In 2021, employees of Bridger Aerospace created an organization to support Montana wildland firefighters. Many of these firefighters are volunteers and lack a solid financial support system when things go wrong. The Montana Firefighter Fund was established to support firefighters in need of financial assistance and provide them the opportunity to further their careers.

Dan Steffensen, a Red Lodge firefighter severely injured in June 2021, was the first beneficiary of the Montana Firefighter Fund. He received financial assistance to help cover medical costs and transportation for his family to visit him in the hospital.

On Thursday, April 14th, 2022, individuals throughout Montana and beyond gathered to celebrate the opening of Hangar 2 and support the Montana Firefighter Fund. The “Party Under the Wings” featured a silent and live auction with highly desirable items donated by local businesses and the Sheehy Family. The hangar was transformed into the area’s most prominent party venue, showcasing the Bridger Aerospace fleet, including the new Pilatus PC-12 air attack platform. The live auction culminated in a heartwarming and generous bid for naming right to an Air Attack Aircraft. The aircraft will proudly bear the name of their son, who passed away. Thanks to the extraordinary donors, the fundraiser was an incredible success, raising over $350,000 for Montanan Firefighters!

Thank you to all who donated so generously! The event would not have been a success without your contributions. As we enter the 2022 fire season, please donate to help Montanan wildland firefighters at:
